    PhotoShop User TV

If I was to start over again with graphics software I would not be using Photoshop. It is far to expensive. Hundreds of dollars! I would use the GIMP now. But I got a good deal on Photoshop CS1 a few years ago and watched Photoshop TV now Photoshop User TV. Unless you plan to use CS2 or CS3 I would not bother because these guys are all about promoting the latest product.

The GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) is a free and opensource graphic editing program not unlike Adobe PhotoShop.

The GIMP like PhotoShop can be very difficult to learn. “Meet The GIMP” is a video podcast of GIMP tutorials or lessons. MTG will walk you through the basics of using The GIMP.

I posted about MTG I while back after that I there was a pause and I thought he went off air but he has been posting regularly. Losts of new episodes!

The TWiT Podcast network is starting to have live video. There has been audio for years but video is a bandwidth hog and the cost of bandwidth for video was prohibitive. It would cost an individual like Leo Leporte (host and creator of the TWiT network) a small fortune to serve that much video. With the help of site like Stickcam it is now possible. Read more about what’s going on at TWiT.

    Play Any Media

Yes, you can play any type of media file (MP3, Quicktime, MPEG4, Real) with “Windows Media Player“. All you need is a CODEC. The “K-Lite Mega Codec Pack ” installs pretty much all of the known CODECs, even the one’s that most of us are not familiar.

Sometimes a file will not open but if you save it to your desktop and then open it should work. (You may have to choose WMP to open it.) If it isn’t in this CODEC pack (CAUTION) do not download one from the site that is suggesting it. It may be malware.

This does not include server-side applications like “Flash” and “Silverlight

Note: Do not install “Media Player Classic” that is included in CODEC Pack. If you do it will be the default player and you want WMP.

Hak5 is a vidcast on Revision3 about hardware, software hacking (white-hat) and drinking beer. I have not watched it in a while. I did not care for it then but I’,m going to take a look at it again.

Animoto is a website that creates professional looking slideshows using your pictures and music and you absolutely don’t have to know anything about multimedia. You upload your photo (You can import your photos from Flickr and other photo sites.) and music (If you don’t have any music it will provided.) Click a button and in a few minutes you have a slideshow like this one. I did this in a few seconds it needs to be tweaked but is pretty good for not putting in any effort. You can make much longer videos with the payed service. You can make a one time long program for $3 and all can eat $30 per month.
